Ways to Avoid Skin Cancer

A lot of people want to have suntanned skin, and they can achieve that through sunbathing. However, overexposure to the rays of the sun can put your skin at risk for skin cancer. Mohs Surgery in Elgin is a specialized technique that treats the common types of skin cancer. At Dundee Dermatology, patients diagnosed with skin cancer can undergo Mohs surgery.

Skin cancer is generally caused by exposure to UV radiation. You can prevent skin cancer by following these tips.

  • Make use of sunscreen daily – You can find a lot of sunblock lotions on the market. Look for a product that has the right amount of SPF. If necessary, reapply sunblock lotion several times throughout the day. Even if you are not going to the beach or you do not have any plans of sunbathing, you can still use sunscreen. You are already exposing your skin to the sun when you go out of the house and take a walk or even when you exercise in the park.
  • Inspect your skin – Check your skin regularly. You are the first person who can identify any unusual spots on your skin.
  • Visit your dermatologist – See a dermatologist from Dundee Dermatology regularly so your skin can be checked and any abnormalities will be detected early on.

If you want to know more about skin cancer removal through Mohs surgery, contact Dundee Dermatology at 847-851-8888. Dr. Tracy Campbell has received advanced training on Mohs surgery and aims to give the most effective skin cancer treatments.
