IPL Laser

IPL LAser

Women and men looking for skin renewal at Dundee Dermatology often find that they are good candidates for Intense Pulsed Light, also known as IPL. Our Chicago area patients choose this treatment to improve the appearance of imperfections and reverse some of the common signs of aging.

Our doctors and staff members look forward to helping you enhance your skin health and beauty in a professional, caring environment. If you are looking for a gentle photofacial treatment in the Chicago area, IPL could be just the right option for you.

Your skin is one of your biggest beauty assets – and you can trust us to protect it. Our skilled providers are dedicated to providing professional service and results that will have you saying, “Wow!” Call us at (847) 851-8888 or request a consultation online to learn about IPL treatments.

IPL Explained

IPL is a light-based therapy that can treat a wide variety of skin conditions including:

  • Facial skin imperfections
  • Sun damage of the hands, neck and chest
  • Rosacea and redness
  • Broken capillaries
  • Sun spots and freckles
  • Fine Lines

Simply put, IPL works by delivering multiple wavelengths of intense light into the skin. Each wavelength of light targets a different color like red or brown, providing some advantage over lasers which deliver just a single wavelength of light. The treatment is gentler than most chemical peels and dermabrasion treatments. IPL can be used on its own or in combination with other skin care procedures, including laser skin resurfacing or BOTOX® near Chicago. IPL is a great option for photorejuvenation because it provides quick results with minimal down-time. Like laser hair removal in Chicago, IPL requires multiple sessions for maximum effectiveness. But with a series of treatments, long-term improvements in the skin can be seen.

The Treatment

In order to see optimal skin rejuvenation, our patients usually need to have 2 to 4 IPL treatments. Spacing the treatments at 3 to 4 week intervals provides the best results. Each IPL treatment session lasts about 30 to 40 minutes, making it quick and convenient, while keeping discomfort and downtime to a minimum.

The amount of light emitted by the IPL device is customized to each patient, minimizing the impact on healthy tissue while still thoroughly targeting damaged and blemished skin. Our treatment professionals are skilled in determining just the right amount of light to improve your appearance while protecting your skin.

We are proud to offer the Lumenis M22 for your IPL treatment. The Lumenis M22 is one of the most advanced and versatile IPL systems available and enables us to provide very customized treatments. Whether you would like to treat rosacea, visible veins, facial imperfections or age spots, photorejuvenation in the Chicago area has never been easier.
